On March 26, 2023, the department of Quindío, in the heart of Colombia, will host one of the country's major sporting events: the Quindío Half Marathon , a street athletics competition that will trace its route through corridors surrounded by landscapes and traditional coffee crops and will allocate part of the funds raised to the Western Oncologists Foundation.
The race is endorsed by the Colombian Athletics Federation, is included in the national calendar, and is the only competition to be held in a rural area, in the middle of one of the main road corridors of the Colombian Coffee Growers, taking place in the traditional Parque del Café.
The Quindío Half Marathon will have three distances :
The first of these will be 21K , starting from the Torre Mirador del Parque del Café and going in the direction Montenegro - Pueblo Tapao and at kilometer 10.5 of the route there will be the return again towards the park, where we will direct the runners by the auxiliary road that leads to the finish line located in the main square of Parque del Café.
The 10k distance will also start from the Torre Mirador towards Pueblo Tapao, taking the new road that borders this district, crossing back through the town and resuming the path towards the main square of the coffee park.
The 5K race will take place entirely inside Parque del Café, with the route laid out between the attractions on a fully conditioned terrain consisting of 90% gravel and 10% pavement.
The 21k and 10k distances are designed for elite and amateur runners, with a highly technical elevation gain ideal for this type of event, while the 5k invites families to experience running through the MMQ.
